Standalone Systems:  Are programmed with a keypad.

Network Systems:  Are easily controlled on a PC(s) using specially designed software.
        + users easily added and deleted
        + full control of who and when doors/lifts will open
        + system report generating
        + 20,000+ users
        + support almost all card / key reader technologies (choosing the right cards/keys)
        - more expensive
